"Drawing and Painting have been two stand alone activities that I have engaged in during my career. Part of my process has also included making numerous studies while I am conceptualizing a visual idea that is not always resolved before starting a painting. In this particular exhibition both practices have merged. The images present shapes that begin to form or float while others are anchored to an edge, or shape in various states of formation.
I have always been interested in the paradoxical, creating a space where images are not necessarily fixed. The works in this exhibition express a balancing act between stasis and movement as an image begins to vanish or change while it unfolds. I am interested in the transient and contradictory quality that this moment can express and the metaphorical implications that the images may suggest."
