It’s easy to initiate a new painting. I’ll start one every few days. This inevitably allows me to drift amongst them and choose whichever demands my attention on any given day. I may go back in time and resolve one from years ago when I think I’ve finally found a cure. It’s a kind of collaboration with my younger self. When I say “paintings,” i really mean the “layers” painted on semi-transparent sheets of silk that will eventually make up the whole. Hundreds of them get filed away for future use. My favorite part of the process is the merging of two or three of these independently made layers into a single entity. This body of work contains several of these couplings & triplings.
