We're so happy to have the work of Sara MacCulloch in the gallery. Sara is an artist from Halifax, Nova Scotia, and has lived in that landscape for her whole life. When I first saw her work about 15 years ago, it reminded me of Fairfield Porter. And that's why I loved it – it has such a fresh, idiosyncratic but deliberate take and use of paint.
Sara spent a week last summer living in Fairfield Porter's former house in Maine, and these paintings are the result of that stay.
