This painting was inspired by a view from my balcony during a snowfall. When it snows nowadays, I love what happens to the city. There’s just a quietness and the whole energy of the city changes which, to me, has a magical feeling.
I also wanted to capture the subtle lighting of all these different shades of white and grays and subtle colorations. It was really fun and challenging to explore that.
In my paintings – all of my paintings – I generally find settings and scenes that are familiar to me and part of my everyday life and surroundings.
