This is a typical abstract art painting by Susan English, who is a marvelous colorist. She takes a polymer, which is a type of liquid plastic, and adds pigments in and pours it on wood panels. This particular piece features two wood panels, each with its own separate pouring. The variations on the surface and quality of color are the result of a flexible relationship between control and accident. This abstract art painting is a perfect example of how Susan English uses controlled accident - happy accident - that’s almost intuitive in how it’s applied to the piece. This painting has such a wonderful inner light that you need to see in person to experience fully.
