Deborah Zlotsky discusses her process and career in this informal conversation with artist Susan Melrath for Art2Life.
“My paintings, even though they look very graphic and flat – they have some perspective that’s easy to see - but they always have these moments of trompe-l’oeil where there’s little pieces of string or little posts and things holding up.
I’m interested in aging, so my paintings are aged in a way. I have to go through this certain set of changes and changing and changing and changing relationships. And then I always put in these bits and pieces that might hold up a part or connect a part, so they stay together.” - Deborah Zlotsky
