These are newer works on paper by Deborah Dancy. She’s using a pour system to create the mark, and when she’s using the pour, it’s totally controlled and accidental at the same time. It’s not as if she’s just throwing the paint around – it’s controlled, but the accident that happens as well is very freeing to what she wants to do.
In these paintings, only using black and white, Deborah is thinking about how to take elements away from her typical work and make it more minimal, stripping it of inessential.
