Of her recent work, Ky Anderson states, "After taking a couple of months off from painting, I returned to the studio with a sense of urgency and dove in without a preconceived concept. What slowly emerged was a group of paintings about landscape and place.
In 2020, I moved from Brooklyn, New York, to my childhood neighborhood in Kansas City. I’m still in an urban landscape, but my new one has more trees, a different relationship to sunsets, conversations about weather and a whole new slew of relationships and concerns. Each piece in this body of work reflects my experiences and observations in my new setting.
Suspended between abstraction and landscape, this body of work speaks of flowing water, trees falling, dramatic weather, a city at dusk, the changing light through the seasons, and the cycles of life and death, both in flora and in the people around me."
